The ideas and objectives of the Lane Kirkland Scholarships Program are directly derived from the mission of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation. The above include, among other things, supporting democratic and free market transformations in other Central and Eastern European countries. The Program is financed from the funds of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation and administered by the Leaders of Change Foundation.
In total, in the years 2000-2016, 699 grantees from eleven countries completed the Program, out of which 373 students from Ukraine, 137 - from Belarus, 43 - from Russia, 12 - from Lithuania, 10 - from Slovakia, 25 - from Armenia, 47 - from Georgia, 19 - from Moldova, 18 - from Kazakhstan, 7 - from Azerbaijan and 8 - from Kyrgyzstan.
209 diplomas with honors were awarded. The largest number of grantees in the said period were from the field of economics and management - 223 persons, law - 116 persons and public administration - 90 persons. The largest professional group consisted of employees from higher education institutions (274 persons) as well as officials and experts (173 persons).
